100 Women Who Care was started in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan the former mayor of Jackson, Michigan as a simple way to raise money efficiently and quickly for local charities. The first meeting Karen hosted raised over $12,000 for the Centre for Family Health, their chosen charity to purchase 300 new baby cribs.   Since then there are more than 650 chapters across the world, and 100 Women Who Care Kelowna is part of a global giving movement. The first Canadian chapter was started in September 2012 in Toronto. 

In 2014, Rose Sexsmith launched the 100+ Women Who Care movement in Kelowna.  She was thrilled to see that women in Kelowna share a common goal - to give back to the community through donations.  The first charity to receive funds raised was the Women's Shelter Kelowna.

Today, we have over 450 members and 5 volunteers who make up our Executive Committee who share in organizing our fun, quarterly events and share in the load of responsibilities that come with keeping 100 Women Who Care Kelowna alive.
